Tons River Rafting Expeditions
Tons valley is a remote area and has a traditions unlike any other in the area. The villagers in the Tons valley are believed to be descendents of the Kauravas and Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata. It as well has some rare traditions such as that of polygamy.
Tons River offers one of the most technical river expeditions in India and has lots of rapids spaced together with flat water. You will spend the day on some of the most thrilling whitewater rafting, with rapids such as On the Tons Squeeze, Confluence, Horns of the Tons, and Tuni Bazaar with late daylights and nights spent calming and enjoying the riverside camp. The last extend of rafting and kayaking will take us through the gorge and bring us to the Major Surprise, the main rapid on this trip. Our river trip ends at Minus. This river trip brings one closer to nature also as gives you a chance to find out a new side to yourself.
Tons River Rafting Trip Itinerary
Day 01: Tons River Rafting Trip
Drive to the Tons valley. With breaks for meals we reach at the campsite well before it gets dark. Setup camp for the night by the Tons River.
Days 02 and 03: Tons River Rafting Trip
Wake up to the gurgling sound of the river, tempting you to begin your river expedition. After a talk on safety also as fundamental paddling directions one begins rafting at Mori and ends the day at Khunigad. Back to the campsite by hours of daylight, you can choose to relax on the beach and watch the sunset, or go for a short hike into the Pine forest. Dinner around the campfire is a great place to share stories of the adventures of the day.
Days 04 and 05: Tons River Rafting Trip
Begin the 60 km river run. Spend the first two days covering a part from Mori to Tiuni. Here we come across some grade 4 rapids and a lot of smaller ones, which are sure to get your adrenalin pumping. In the late hours of daylight we pitch camp, where we can trek into the beautiful alpines pastures or the pine forests. Dinner is buzzing with thrill over the next day of rafting and kayaking and your river guide will have plenty of stories to share. Setup camp for the night by the river.
Day 06: Tons River Rafting Trip
From Tuni, the river begins to pick up volume as the river Pabbar joins, providing more volume and terrific whitewater. After the excitement of the top and middle part of the river trip we now move into a good-looking gorge. Paddle through some of the country’s best whitewater throughout the day and setup camp in the late afternoon to travel around the surrounding area.
Day 07: Tons River Rafting Trip
The final day on the river journey, we will paddle the way down the river through a black tropical canyon. At Minus we end our journey and are met by our vehicles to drive us to Dehradun, to board the train back to Delhi.
